A experiência completa do Pico Palmyra em Telluride (Caminhada insana de 2,5 horas + descida)

↳

0:00 once you get up to 13 000 feet you're winded so here at Telluride right now
0:10 and about to embark on a journey that is probably one of the most epic at any ski resort that's going to be a hike up
0:18 Palmyra Peak so right now we're at the top of chair 12. it is about 11 45 a.m and by the top
0:28 will be above 13 000 feet it's gonna be very hard to breathe out there very tenuous probably over two hours
0:36 it's gonna start easy gonna get harder let's get started so we're not even five minutes up but
0:46 seeing some of these lines here looks so tempting you can see these drop-ins are
0:54 pretty tough you got these cornices here you got to navigate got these Rock Hills but
1:00 look at all this powder it's just untouched but we're still only about five ten percent
1:08 of the way up you just know it's gonna get better the higher you go a bit of a ways up at this point
1:16 this is the part where the wide kind of like groomed part of the hike end it gets a bit steeper from here
1:24 uh we still have quite a ways to go but not gonna lie already feeling pretty short of breath uh it's gonna be
1:31 an adventure from up here so about
1:40 maybe 25 of the hike up now maybe a little less than that wise uh made friends with the Telluride employee who
1:49 uh is talking up Palmyra yeah I've been living here for the past couple years and uh when I interact with high
1:58 altitude areas I find that above 11 000 feet that's when you really start feeling it once you get up to 13 000
2:04 feet you're winded uh and it's almost like an exponential so like you know
2:11 from zero to ten thousand feet it's okay 10 to 11 000 feet it gets worse 11 to 12
2:18 it gets worse 12 to 13 it gets worse and it just continues to be more and more difficult just take it at your own pace make sure
2:26 you stop and take a breather um you want to be you know in the best mental state you can the most difficult part is definitely a little uh a Little
2:34 Rock scramble you have to do which is awesome yeah all right well cheers man yeah cheers to you enjoy it
2:45 still not even halfway up but just looking at these lines they're so sick having all this untouched powder
2:52 it's really hard to just not get tempted and drop in here but you know the top is just going to be
3:00 if this is what it's like about 40 of the way up it's got to be just unreal when we get to the top
3:09 so now we're about maybe half the hike but maybe a third of the vert up uh Palmyra Peak
3:17 so this is the black Iron Bowl um and this is where a lot of people decide to uh drop off and actually uh
3:26 hop in and do some of this terrain on a daily today this terrain is pretty awesome it is about to get a lot steeper
3:34 from here gonna keep going uh definitely this up to here has been the easy part
3:43 by far of the hike so you can see a lot of people going up today it is a lot of vert gained
3:52 so let's continue it's about to get a lot harder and a lot steeper this hike not for the faint of heart
4:06 oh wow
4:15 big step up here these rocks just keep on coming
4:30 already insanely exhausted but there's so much more to go oh
4:37 wow the amount of vert that we've done already it's insane
4:45 so maybe about two-thirds of the way up right now we've conquered a decent chunk of vertical
4:52 but wow there's still quite a ways to go and it's only going to get tougher as the altitude gets even higher
5:01 my arms legs starting to feel a little bit like jello but man look at these views you can see over there those are the Gold Hill
5:09 shoots that's another hike you can do not nearly as crazy as this hike if you want to drop in here there's a run called capital
5:17 if you take a look at the trail map pretty sure it's a a nice little shoot and it looks pretty extreme but
5:24 man still got uh one crazy journey ahead
5:33 wow this is about to get intense
5:46 oh yeah
5:56 it's a nice little Rock shoe to hike up
6:04 at least there's a place to put your hands kind of stabilize yourself oh do you need to watch out for my Skies
6:13 though oh
6:21 that last ski is coming pretty close
6:34 I think we can see the top now though oh damn
6:45 guess this is the final leg we're getting close to the top but there are some lines around here you
6:53 could hop into if you want some of these look pretty good but at this point
7:01 it would be such a shame to not just make it to the top from here but you can you can already see
7:07 these lines are way more extreme way more unique than anything that is even remotely lift
7:16 serviced even a small hike Telluride this is some of the
7:23 greatest Terrain inbounds in the world
7:32 this part's a little rocky
7:44 wow oh man
7:53 wow we're so close oh man at this point my body is just
8:00 feeling so shot every step just getting exponentially harder
8:09 I think we're approaching 13 000 feet here the air is light and you can feel it
8:19 so we're so close I think this goes without saying but if
8:30 you don't have a backpack to attach your skis to this Hike's going to be a struggle for you
8:38 getting so close at this point some of these shoots wow they're gnarly just these fall lines
8:46 so long insanely Rock riddled man
8:54 I am pretty stoked to get to the top here exhausted but stoked
9:02 this looks like this March is the recommended route but looks like absolutely no one's done it everyone's going to the top we're so
9:10 close we've hiked so far you just can't not make it all the way
9:18 to the very Peak how am I repeat
9:27 oh this is it
9:39 a long time Palm River Peak baby
9:50 Twisted Sister 13 350 feet
9:59 unbelievable views fun snacks to be had by all
10:13 it's that hike I think when all is said and done not counting the 10 minute break at the top
10:20 probably took me just over two hours so this is probably for most people a once
10:28 in a season if not once ever hike so you got to make it count the same as most certainly true for
10:36 myself so here's the drop-in we're gonna start with
10:44 this place called seniors and we're up here it is over 13 000 feet
10:52 and then we're going to drop we have a choice between seniors and Roy Boy once we get kind of through the middle then
11:00 we hop into Palmyra basin so I cannot believe this is actually happening but let's
11:08 check it out the snow up here it is the first day of
11:18 April but it is light and untouched way better conditions than down further in the
11:26 mountain where more than 4 000 feet above the base and it is crazy
11:34 man this shoot is super steep this is a no-fault zone for sure you have to be very careful to navigate
11:43 here but look at this snow oh man looks can be deceiving though just hit a
11:52 rock foreign
12:05 just be a little careful but the snow is drying light the
12:13 fall one you can just see this fall line goes for a while you want to be very
12:22 careful in here do you think move might be just to go
12:31 down seniors there's pretty solid snow in here
12:38 and this terrain is very interesting we're about to pop into this Little Chute here
12:52 oh boy those were rocks but this area over here
13:00 this is where the snow is probably the most untouched do you see that
13:08 you see the ankle deep right now in April that is insane oh yeah this is where the untouched
13:15 stuff is wow wow oh my God
13:22 oh this is insane insane for
13:29 how bad of a year Colorado has had this run unreal
13:37 wow oh my god there are rocks
13:44 but you can just see this is untouched this is so epic
13:53 that was all insanely long hike but for these turns
14:03 it's hard not to say that it is worth it unreal and just look at how beautiful
14:11 this is and up there you can see Gold Hill you got the Gold Hill stairs but just look at this so beautiful so
14:20 remote you can't see any sort of civilization around here you're just one with nature and some of
14:29 the most beautiful nature out there foreign
14:35 this is an insane run you stop over at black Iron Bowl some of
14:45 the places that are a little bit further off those are great but this is just on another level
14:53 I never thought I'd be skiing through light untouched powder like this
15:02 at this time of year foreign
15:24 wow just look at that just look at all the snow here unreal
15:37 fun freaking real
15:54 wow we've done quite a lot of vert here but they're still in unreal amount of
16:02 untouched light powder there's definitely some lines through here
16:08 find plenty of freshies Prime
16:17 it's probably about 40 degrees up here maybe closer to 45.50 at the bottom
16:23 but light dry snow mild temperatures blueber day
16:31 what more can you ask for popping into some trees
16:42 definitely still on the steeper side but luckily down here
16:50 oh wow I was about to see there aren't too many rocks but I spoke way too soon
17:02 these trees over here surprisingly after that hike I'm not too exhausted
17:11 maybe it's just maybe it's just the adrenaline of that run but
17:22 it's uh pretty good place to be right now Telluride
17:30 this is by far I think the most epic run I've done this season maybe ever
17:38 probably the hardest hike I've done still so much on track stuff
17:50 because you can't really get into this area unless you hike to it so you
17:59 hike for quite a while but you're rewarded with really really solid snow for quite
18:07 a significant amount of time I think maybe up there you see Prospect
18:15 up there that's like the closest non-high 2 terrain that you can access from here so there's still
18:23 plenty of untracked run to go it's definitely getting a little bit more tracked as right up there that's
18:32 the black Iron bull so there's gonna be more people filtering in over here but we still
18:40 should have some pretty untracked snow until we get pretty close to the bottom
18:50 you can you can just see like we're still in a hike 2 Zone and you can see just how much vertical we've covered we were all the way up there we've probably
18:59 covered at least a thousand feet of vert maybe even more this is not something you get at a typical Ski
19:06 Resort you know telluride's extremes you can't really access them by lift
19:13 but it does have some serious benefits the high two nature
19:22 really does have some serious benefits all right I think this is the run out my God
19:30 that was insane that was a hike up Palmyra Peak and our run down seniors
19:37 probably one of the most insane hike run combinations that is out there
19:45 if you have the stamina for a two-hour hike up more more than 13 000 feet in elevation
19:54 you might be kicking yourself on the upper parts of that hike but once you get down you absolutely will not regret it
